During the academic year of the workshop in the Visual Arts Center, I usually organize seminars on a specific theme which varies every year.
Those seminars are dedicated to topics which are related to art, to the technique and the aesthetics of glass.
Those events attract audience from different regions in Israel. As a tradition, the events are accompanied by live music played by students of the harp class,
under the direction of Marianna Schwartzbart from the Beer Sheva conservatory. The music adds an additional emotion to the atmosphere of this glass celebration.
The first seminar, "Glass as an Artistic Expression", took place on November 2007. Several leading glass artists took part in lectures, demonstration and in an exhibition.
The participating artists were: Boris Shpaizman (Glassblowing), Orit Lanadu (Fusing), Robin and Amnon Elbaz (Lampworking).
The seminar "Metamorphosis" took place at the end of the studies at 2009.
The glass as a matter represents a process of metamorphosis, and periods in the history which are related to this matter are characterized by different types of metamorphosis.
The seminar was a summary of the process of teaching and the activities in the workshop. The exhibition, which was a part of the seminar, was based on the student's works, both beginners and more advanced, which the students made during the academic year.
Moreover, during the seminar I read a lecture entitled "Metamorphosis of Mosaic in Ravenna", in which I emphasized the influence of the development in glass art on the history of the Mediterranean area.
In addition, I have presented the findings of researches which were made in the last ten years, which are related to the history of the glass and its properties.
